Longevity Elixirs ~ Potions

A digital banner showing a gold spoon full with a green powder. Next to it are the listed potion elixirs for this newsletter

Hello My Friend & Happy mid-March,

This month’s newsletter is all about potions!

For reasons unbeknownst to me, I started the New Year with an exciting purchase of Anima Mundi products which I immediately deemed as potions.

I ordered . . .

  1. LIVER VITALITY Greens ~ Daily Cleanser (Elixir 1)

  2. HE SHOU WU ~ Hair Strength

  3. BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER ~ Blue Healer (Elixir 3)

  4. BLUE LOTUS ~ Flower of Intuition

Little did I know that when I started drinking the Liver Vitality potion every morning, I would eventually:

  • Find my way to a local Indigenous healer who blessed me with acupuncture and a bespoke tincture

  • Receive homemade ghee from an Ayurvedic witch friend to add moisture to this concoction

  • Share my excitement about a potion with a receptive audience at the Central Library where I channelled my 8-year-old self.

January through March hasn’t felt monumental, as the defrosting of my hibernation has taken place. However, what has accompanied this gentle transition are the potions that have made their way to me.

Here’s a little more about them . . .

P.S. I have no paid affiliation with any of these products or people. Instead, I feel very blessed they found me 🙏🏻

Elixir 1 ~ Anima Mundi’s Liver Vitality 💚

I start every morning with this potion. I put 1/2 tsp of Manuka Honey, a squeeze of lemon juice, and 1/2 tsp of coconut oil or ghee into boiling water. Then I add the powder. I decided to try this because Eastern medicine practitioners have repeatedly commented on the state of my liver. It is something I have come to expect, yet it is unusual considering I never really took to drinking alcohol, and I officially went teetotal when I was 26 due to restless legs syndrome. My guess is I either had a past life as an alcoholic and/or my rounds on Accutane took their toll.

The most noticeable difference (for me) is how my periods went from heavy to light-medium.

I bought it from this Canadian distributor.

Elixir 2 ~ Bespoke Tincture by ote nikan wellness 🌸

Tiffany J Harper (formerly Freeman) Dr.Acu, TCMD, R.H, C-FSD, C-CBE

I can’t rate Tiffany enough! She was recommended to me by Isis of Tender Living Farm – and she is fantastic! As a teacher of 20+ years at Wild Rose College of Herbalism and TCM, she knows her stuff! Tiffany is indigenous to Mohkinstis (off-reserve member of the Peguis First Nation ~ Treaty 1) and her practices, relationship with the land and dedication to making local plant medicine accessible are unwavering. If you are in Calgary, do yourself a favour and go see her. I’ve never had acupuncture before and I love it with her.

From her bio: Tiffany focuses on client-centered gender-inclusive medicine and has a specialty in sexual and generative health, as well as birthwork.

Tiffany’s clinic is in Kensington, NW Calgary and can be viewed here.

Elixir 3 ~ Butterfly Pea Powder aka Blue Matcha 🦋

Years ago, when I was perceiving auras and drawing connections between the chakras and our food (see @colourmyaura on ig) I came to understand that we have very little blue food. According to a book I skimmed, it was because the throat chakra and our centre of communicating our emotions is all around us. It’s in the air (the sky is blue), it’s beneath the earth (the ocean is blue) and it is in us! We are made of water. Therefore, it would have been excessive of the Creator to give us blue food – but we got blueberries. And as many South East Asian people know, we also were given Clitoria ternatea (Latin), Pukingan (Filipino), Aparajita अपराजिता (Hindi name).

I was so inspired by this plant that I shared my quest to find her and my yearning to experience her with Recess Calgary’s Show n’ Tell at the Central Library in Calgary on March 9, 2025.

** Bonus Elixir 4 ~ Voice Nodes is back!!! 🎙️

Inspired by Butterfly pea powder, my podcast Voice Nodes is returning for a new season of “off the cuff” energetic musings. And yes . . . Season 2 was a black hole of mystery abyss.

Listen to it here.

If potions have found you, drop me a line and let me know. All sacred plants I enjoy learning about, and “sacred” is defined by you.

Happy soon-to-be Spring Equinox,
Justine
